George has asked what I want to write about: wood(as in woodworking and forests), dogs, and wool. And then I said I should get the “W” tab: wood, woof, and wool. I don’t really want to talk about politics and society, but some things need to be said, so I added “words” to my list.
The calendar says we have started a new year, a new decade even. So I thought what better time would there be to start a new website?
Ok, maybe 14 months ago when we move into our new home, in a new state, far far away from so many nitty problems that I care not to discuss. Or maybe 6 months ago when we finally got our high speed fiber Internet connection. Certainly 5 months ago when I unpacked a raspberry pi, and installed and configured this very website.
Nope, today is the day. I updated the date of my Hello World post, and minimized the layout of the website. I think Eva will appreciate the clean and concise look.
A lot has happened in the 14 months since we started the adventure that we call Our Vermont Life. I’ll try to post some history, but I do want to focus more on the future.
For example, we’re expecting our contractor to pack up his construction trailer and depart tomorrow! We will have him back in the Spring to stain the house to match the darker color of the garage.
We learned last year that the winter (and spring) weather can be pretty nasty at times. This week, however, seems very pleasant. Light fresh snow covers the countryside. Eva comments on how quiet the snowscape is, already acclimated to how quite rural Vermont is under it all.
Welcome to Our Vermont Life!
The stories we tell here are about our latest (and last?) major life adventure, our decision to escape the urban and political nightmare of life in the metro DC area and move to a quiet (oh so quiet), beautiful and natural life in rural Vermont.
We moved into our home in Bethel, Vermont, on November 9, 2018. So stay with us as we post stories from the prior 14 months, and follow our continuing adventure…
